FHFH has donated meat over the years to the Frederick Food Bank in Maryland. We received a note of appreciation from the food bank for our continued support.

“We appreciate the FHFH program so much, and we couldn’t serve all of the families in need in Frederick without the continued support over the years! FHFH donated meat to the Hickory Nut Gorge Outreach and received this note of thanks:

We enjoy receiving stories from proud parents about kids choosing to donate their first deer to feed the hungry. This fall the Lord brought us a twist on that theme as a proud son and past volunteer with FHFH got to help his father fulfill a dream. Please take a few minutes to enjoy this heartwarming story from our friend Don in Ohio.

“Dad and I have discussed hunting and FHFH many times over the past 25 years since I moved back to Ohio after leaving the Army in 1998.

He had visited several times and had gone to a few Whitetails Unlimited banquets where he assisted me in raffling muzzleloaders, selling hats and T-Shirts and talking with people at those banquets about FHFH.

After losing his wife to cancer in January and himself breaking his hip in February, dad moved back to Ohio with my wife and I after living in California and Arizona for almost 50 years.

His dream was to hunt with me again (which we were able to do once when he lived in California). So together we built a platform and set up a ground blind on it, put it next to the house and practiced with my Mission Crossbow. After he was comfortable getting in and out of the blind and with the crossbow, I moved the ground blind and platform to the back of the property.

On September 27, 2022 (his 88th birthday), we made that dream come true. We hunted together for the first time in almost 30 years. That day, dad harvested his first deer and we did it together.

As we sat in the blind celebrating together, giving thanks, reviewing the video and allowing her time to expire, dad looked at me and said “She’s going to feed a lot of people.” I asked him if that meant that he was going to donate her and he said that he wanted to follow my example and donate his first deer. Not only was it his first deer of the season, this was his first deer ever.

Leviticus 27:30 says, “A tenth of the produce of the land, whether grain or fruit, is the Lord’s…” And Proverbs 3:9 says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.”

The Lord blessed him with a nice doe on September 27th and then another one for me on October 28th. Both (our first fruits) were donated to FHFH. Dad and I delivered those two and several other donated deer to the Breiel Church Pantry and to the Hope House Rescue Mission both in Middletown, Ohio.”

The Mid-Shore Community Foundation has awarded $2,500 in grant funding to FHFH which will assist FHFH in providing approximately 5,000 meal servings of nutritious meat to the food banks and feeding ministries who serve people in need in Caroline, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties in Maryland.

Protein and meat products are one of the top items needed by food banks. The expensive price of meat and its limited shelf life prevent it from being a readily accessible food item by food banks. The meat donated to the food banks and feeding ministries by FHFH will help provide much needed nutrition to people in need.

Established in 1992, the Mid-Shore Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that connects private resources with public needs to enhance the quality of life throughout the Mid-Shore Region of Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties. Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry in Indiana recently learned of a desperate need for meat at the Rock Prairie Church Food Pantry for their Thanksgiving distribution boxes. FHFH volunteer coordinators John Mollett and Samuel Kiphart jumped into action and our ministry made a local purchase of turkeys and hams for donation to the food pantry. The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore has awarded $1,500 funding to Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, which will provide 3,000 servings of nutritious meat to the food banks and programs that feed people of Somerset and Wicomico County who are in need.

Walmart store #2313 located in Streetsboro, Ohio awarded Northeast Ohio FHFH (OH-33) a $500 community grant. The funding will help provide meat to those in need in Portage County who are struggling with hunger.

Walmart’s Community Grant Program is proud to support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. They believe in giving back locally – creating a positive impact in the neighborhoods where they live and work.

HEB Grocery awarded a $500 grant to Texas Hill Country FHFH (TX-09) to help FHFH provide nutritious meat to food banks and feeding ministries in communities served by Texas Hill Country FHFH.

For over 115 years, HEB has contributed to worthy causes throughout Texas and Mexico, and it is a tradition we proudly maintain today. HEB’s Hunger Relief Program works year-round to fight hunger in Texas and Mexico. For more than a century now, HEB’s commitment and involvement in the communities it serves has been an important part of the way the company does business.

Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry has been awarded a $5,000 general grant from the Ausherman Family Foundation in Frederick County, Maryland. This funding will help our ministry provide over 10,000 additional servings of meat to the hungry through local food banks and feeding ministries.

Their faithful generosity is a strong indication of how deeply they care about the needs of local individuals, children and families in the Frederick area,” said FHFH Executive Director Josh Wilson.
