Our Ministry

Roadkill SceneFarmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry began after founder Rick Wilson encountered a mother loading a deer she had found along the roadside into her car so she could feed her hungry children. As he watched her drive away, Rick was reminded of the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:

“I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!”

Since that moment, FHFH has worked to help provide nutritious meat to hungry families and individuals through food banks and feeding ministries across America.

There are many wonderful people and organizations helping feed the hungry. Some are motivated by compassion, while others were taught by parents, teachers, churches, and communities to care for those facing difficult circumstances.

At FHFH, our greatest motivation comes from the love of God. We believe in a God who created us, provides for us, and gave everything to rescue us from sin and death through His Son Jesus Christ. In response to that love, we care for others and share hope with those who are hurting and in need.

The Bible speaks often about hunger and compassion for the poor. Physical hunger remains a daily struggle for many people, and we believe God calls us to help care for our neighbors in practical ways. But spiritual hunger is also real. Many people search for hope, purpose, and peace in different ways, yet true fulfillment is ultimately found through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

We would love for you to join us in helping address hunger in your community through Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry. And if you are searching for meaning or struggling with spiritual hunger, we would be honored to talk with you about the hope and new life found in Jesus Christ.

The Salvation Poem

Jesus, You died upon a cross
And rose again to save the lost.
Forgive me now of all my sin
Come be my Savior, Lord, and Friend.
Change my life and make it new
And help me, Lord, to live for You.

What does the Bible say about hunger?

Spiritual Hunger Physical Hunger
  • “The true bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”  “Sir,” they said, “give us that bread every day.”  Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again.  Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”  John 6:33-35 (NLT)
  • But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’"   Matthew 4:4  (NLT)
  • God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.  Matthew 5:6 (NLT)
  • As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.   Psalm 42:1 (NLT)
  • Then Jesus turned to his disciples and said, “God blesses you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.  God blesses you who are hungry now, for you will be satisfied.  God blesses you who weep now, for in due time you will laugh.  Luke 6:20-21 (NLT)
  • “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him."  John 3:16-17 (NLT)
  • Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble.  Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.  Isaiah 58:10 (NLT)
  • Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?  So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.  James 2:15-17 (NLT)
  • “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.  For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing.  I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’  Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?  When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’"   Matthew 25:34-40 (NLT)
