Are You Hungry? Pediatricians Add A New Question During Checkups

An estimated 7.9 million kids in the U.S. live in “food-insecure” households. This means there’s not always enough to eat at home. But when these kids go to the doctor for a checkup, or a well-child visit, the signs of malnutrition are not always apparent. So pediatricians say it’s time to start asking about it. To get families talking, the American Academy of Pediatrics is now recommending that pediatricians screen all children for food insecurity by asking questions like, “Within the past 12 months, the food we bought didn’t last, and we didn’t have money to get more. Individuals and families attending enjoyed a buffet style meat donated by Outback Steakhouse of Hagerstown. A large silent and live auction provided folks with many great items to bid on. A MD update of the impact and financial needs for FHFH was shared with those in attendance. Additionally, Allan Ellis of the MD Hunting Coalition attended and shared a brief update from the perspective of the MHC on hunting in MD and encouraged folks in attendance to support FHFH.
Thankfully, the event was able to raise just over $13,000 in critical support needed to help ensure the hunters of MD will be able to donate deer for as long as possible this fall.
Thanks to all those who attended and made this a great evening to help the needy of MD!

New Logo and Website for FHFH

Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) is excited to announce the unveiling of a brand new logo and a redesigned website. Both are part of an ongoing effort to refresh the brand and messaging of the organization for a new generation of hunters nationwide.
“We are excited to share this new logo and website with our volunteers, supporters and friends,” said Executive Director Josh Wilson. “FHFH helps hunters address the problem of hunger in America. The new logo and website will help us share this vision with many new people as we invite them to join the cause with us.”
The design of the new logo places greater emphasis on the hunger relief aspect FHFH. Hunting and farming are represented by an appealing and distinct graphic suitable for a range of uses from casual to formal. The faith-based aspect of the mission has also been thoughtfully included.
Designed by High Rock Studios in Hagerstown, MD, the new FHFH logo is intended to appeal to a broad audience including men, women and young people.
The FHFH website has undergone a variety of changes and updates in recent months to streamline the content and simplify the navigation. The site has now undergone a facelift to better compliment the design and colors of the new logo.
Inspired by a passion for the outdoors and compassion for the needy, FHFH is committed to addressing the problem of hunger in America. With volunteers serving in 28 states, FHFH supports local feeding programs in a unique and relevant way.

Hunters Provide One Million Meals to the Hungry

Since 1997 FHFH has coordinated the donation and distribution of enough meat for nearly 17 million meals to the hungry across America.
“We are excited to have helped hunters and farmers donate over one million meals to their hungry neighbors! The Lord has blessed us with this innovative opportunity to share nutritious meat with those who need it,” said FHFH Director Josh Wilson. “And we are also very grateful to our financial supporters, sponsoring partners, chapter coordinators and volunteers. Without their faithfulness and passion this work would not be possible.”
