The Community Foundation of Frederick County Provides Funding to FHFH
On behalf of those in Frederick County who struggle with hunger, we thank The Community Foundation of Frederick County for its generosity and support of our mission to end hunger.
The Community Foundation is dedicated to connecting people who care with causes that matter to enrich the quality of life in Frederick County now and for future generations. For three decades, they have helped translate simple good intentions into powerful acts of philanthropy that build a stronger, more vibrant community not only for today but for the future.
Inspired by a passion for the hunt and compassion for the hungry, FHFH is committed to addressing the problem of hunger in America. Since 1997 the organization has provided over 21.5 million servings of meat to those in need.
First Deer of the Season Donated to FHFH
One of the quickest hunts I’ve ever had. It was a great shot made at 10 yards or less. I look forward to donating to such a great cause every season! I strongly encourage people to donate their game or a portion to provide for those who are in need! This will become an annual tradition.
FHFH Awarded Grant by Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s Outdoor Fund

Grand Junction FHFH is Off to a Great Start
The Grand Junction FHFH chapter began in 2018, and receives game donations through Orchard Mesa Market. The meat is distributed to those in need through Orchard Mesa Church and Catholic Charities.

NRA Hunters for the Hungry Partners with FHFH
NRA Hunters for the Hungry is an initiative supported by the National Rifle Association to give back to communities by supplying thousands of meals to the needy throughout the country.
The NRA works closely with state programs/affiliates such as Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry to put interested individuals in touch with programs in their area and foster public awareness through education, fundraising, and publicity.
Since the program’s inception, NRA Hunters for the Hungry has brought hundreds of thousands of pounds of venison to homeless shelters, soup kitchens and food banks across the United States.
Ausherman Family Foundation Grant to provide over 10,000 Servings

Protein and meat products are one of the top items needed by food banks. The expensive price of meat and its limited shelf life prevent it from being a readily accessible food item by food banks. The meat donated to the food banks and feeding ministries by FHFH will help provide much needed nutrition to people in need. On behalf of FHFH and those in Frederick County who struggle with hunger, we thank The Ausherman Family Foundation for their generosity and support of our mission to end hunger.
Walmart Store #481 Awards a $500 Grant for Eastern Illinois FHFH
Walmart’s Community Grant Program is proud to support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. They believe in giving back locally – creating a positive impact in the neighborhoods where they live and work.
We thank the Walmart Foundation, Walmart Community Grants Program and Walmart store #481 for their generous support of our mission of feeding the hungry!
2020-2021 Results: 79 Tons of Meat Distributed
“We are grateful for the support and participation of so many hunters, farmers, and financial supporters this past year! Fresh, nutritious protein items are always needed by local feeding programs and ministries,” said FHFH Executive Director Josh Wilson. “And the COVID-19 pandemic made things worse by increasing the rate of food insecurity across the nation even more.”
Deer, elk, and various types of livestock were donated by generous hunters and farmers to butcher shops participating with FHFH across 14 states. One successful youth hunter named Andrew said, “I donated the buck and one of my two does because we don’t need a lot of meat and it is for a good cause.”
Financial contributions from individuals, churches, businesses, organizations, and foundations paid for these donations to be processed into nutritious meat for distribution to the needy of local communities. A representative of the Bloomfield Food Pantry in Indiana said, “We were almost out when you called and offered the meat to us. Just about everybody that comes to the pantry wants a pound or two of venison each visit.”
A volunteer with a school food pantry shared this message after delivering meat and other items to a local family in Maryland. “As we were stepping away, a little girl about 11 or 12 opened the door, saw the boxes and shouted excitedly into the trailer, ‘We’ve got food!’”
Sadly, there is always significant need for food assistance across our country. It takes dedication and effort from various organizations and ministries working together to help meet this tremendous need each day. FHFH is ready to continue making a positive impact against hunger – one life and one family at a time.
