Recently the Freshwater Institute and Mountaineer Food Bank worked together to provide more than 4,000 meals of locally raised salmon filets to the food bank’s network of food pantries and programs that help West Virginians in need.
In West Virginia, 250,600 people are struggling with hunger and of them 73,770 are children. Mountaineer Food Bank in Gassaway, WV provides food and other household items to their emergency food network in 48 counties including programs such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, backpack programs, senior programs and mobile pantries.
John has worked for the Freshwater Institute for more than 20 years, publishing numerous research and industry articles focused on fish production in recirculating aquaculture systems. Ohio Food Pantry Blessed With Venison
Feb 28, 2022 | News

Wayne County FHFH (OH-28) recently donated 120 pounds of much needed meat to help people in need in Medina County Ohio!
We received this thank you note from Feeding Medina County in response to the donation of the venison.
“Thank you so much for connecting me with Tom Norman in Wooster. I was able to pick up 120 pounds of venison two weeks ago that we gave right back out to the families that attended our food distribution in Medina last week.
Feeding Medina County feeds over 3,000 people each month and we are so blessed to have connected with FHFH.
Thank you for all that you do, for including us, and for finding a way for our earth’s natural resources to get to those most in need.”
God bless,
Katy Fuerst, Executive Director

FFA Chapter Helps the Hungry of Ohio
Feb 28, 2022 | News
“We are writing to notify your organization that the members of the West Muskingum FFA Chapter have elected to donate, in the amount of $250, to the Muskingum County chapter of Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, Inc.
Our chapter members see the immense value in your organization and appreciates the individuals who continue to contribute to and manage the organization.
Not only have we had past and present FFA members contribute deer to FHFH to be processed and donated to the local hunger network, but we have also had members who have been on the receiving end of the organization’s generosity when in times of need.
As a chapter, we appreciate all that your organization does and hope that our donation will help with your continued mission of supporting our local community.”
Sincerely,
Chloe Armstrong, Chapter President
West Muskingum FFA Chapter
