Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry was awarded a $5,000 Food Equity and Emergency Distribution (FEED) grant for Frederick County FHFH. The FEED Grant Program was launched in November by Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater and administered in partnership with The Community Foundation of Frederick County. The initiative uses one-time funds to strengthen food distribution efforts. This funding will help FHFH reach its goal of providing approximately 27,000 servings of nutritious meat to people needing food assistance in Frederick County.
Families facing food insecurity rely on food banks and feeding programs for adequate nourishment. Protein and meat products are one of the top items needed by food banks. The expensive price of meat and its limited shelf life prevent it from being a readily accessible food item by food banks. The meat donated to the food banks and feeding ministries by FHFH will help provide much needed nutrition to people in need in Frederick County. Through our FHFH ministry, God is using donated venison to help meet that need.
“Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry epitomizes coming together to help your neighbor in need,” says Josh Wilson, Executive Director. “On behalf of FHFH and those in Frederick County who struggle with hunger, we thank the Frederick County Government and The Community Foundation of Frederick County for their generosity and continuing support of our mission to end hunger.”
“The Community Foundation is proud to partner with Frederick County Government on this critical initiative,” said Betsy Day, President and CEO of The Community Foundation of Frederick County. “These grants will help local organizations continue their vital work and expand services to meet the growing needs of our neighbors during this challenging time.”
Inspired by a passion for the hunt and compassion for the hungry, FHFH is committed to addressing the problem of hunger in America. Since 1997 the organization has provided over 24 million servings of meat to those in need in communities nationwide. To learn more visit FeedingtheHungry.org.
