Why We Do It

For I was hungry, and you gave me meat, I was thirsty, and you gave me drink...

Matthew Chapter 25

Aaproching What We Do

Rick Wilson - Founder of FHFH

Our story began with one woman, desperately struggling to load a battered buck she found alongside the road into her car so she could feed her family. What most of us would see as roadkill was in reality a God-given blessing of meat she couldn’t afford to waste. It was both heartbreaking and inspiring. Her determination to do whatever it took to feed her kids made a lasting impact on Rick Wilson, the man who helped her load that deer into her trunk alongside the road.

"As she drove away, I knew that I had just looked into the eyes of Jesus, who says in Matthew 25 when we've helped even the 'least of these' we have done it TO HIM."

Rick went home that day back in 1997 with a passion inside him to help hunters and farmers feed their hungry neighbors. That vision has now grown into Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry, a ministry that unites volunteers across America to provide healthy protein, free of charge, for food banks and feeding ministries in local communities.

How We Do It

How We Do It Approach

FARMERS & HUNTERS

Hunters to donate deer and elk to help feed their hungry neighbors. Farmers can donate livestock, along with deer harvested to help prevent damage to their crops.

Meat Processor

MEAT PROCESSORS

Donated deer, elk and livestock are processed at a discount by participating local butchers. We pay the processing bills so the meat can be given free of charge to the hungry.

Food Organizations

FEEDING PROGRAMS

Local food banks, soup kitchens, homeless shelters and ministries help by  distributing the nutritious meat to children, families and individuals in need of food assistance.

How You Can Help

The problem of hunger can seem overwhelming. But when we look at the neighbors in need within our own communities — and the God-given resources available through hunters and farmers — we realize that local hunger can be addressed at the local level. Together, we can help ensure our neighbors do not go hungry.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well-fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
