Farmers & Hunters Feeding the Hungry (FHFH) distributed 57 tons of meat to hunger relief programs this past year. This equates to nearly half a million meal servings, and increases the overall total for FHFH to 22 million servings for hungry individuals, children and families since 1997!
“We are thankful for the opportunity to help hunters and farmers donate so much nutritious meat to those in need,” said FHFH Executive Director Josh Wilson. “The Lord has provided so many faithful volunteers and generous supporters who enable us to continue blessing the hungry of local communities each year.”
A hunter named Daisy who donated her first deer of the season said, “I look forward to donating to such a great cause every season! This will become an annual tradition.”
Deer, elk, and livestock were donated to participating local butcher shops across 13 states. Financial contributions from various sources enabled FHFH to pay all of the meat processing bills for these donations, and the meat was distributed free of charge to local food banks and feeding programs.
An FFA chapter president named Chloe sent a donation from their group along with a note saying, “Our chapter members see the immense value in your organization. Past and present FFA members have contributed deer to be processed and donated to the local hunger network, and we have had members on the receiving end of the organization’s generosity in times of need.”
A pastor named David who has a food bank at his church said, “We had just run completely out of meat when FHFH came through for us in a way that was almost miraculous. Now ALL of our church freezers are full of meat to feed the hungry. What a blessing!”
FHFH is ready to meet this challenge with a goal of providing an increased amount of healthy meat to feed the needy of local communities over the coming year!
